Blend Your Way to Health

So in my earlier blogs I have discussed Plated and Daily Harvest, two popular meal delivery systems.  Today, I want to introduce you to Green Blender.  Green Blender is another smoothie company that delivers fresh ingredients to your door so you can blend up a healthy smoothie in a matter of minutes.

Green Blender is less expensive than Daily Harvest, so I wanted to try out this company to see what it offered and how it differed.  Like DH, they use all natural, organic, and non-GMO products which is perfect!

Once again, with the loving support of my husband, he agreed to order a weeks worth to try this out.  The pricing breaks down as so:  $4.90 a smoothie if you order week-to-week, $4.40 a smoothie if you order a months worth, and $3.90 a smoothie if you commit for a year.  I can tell you this - you aren't paying that kind of pricing in any regular store for a smoothie with all natural ingredients in it!

Like most meal delivery systems, you can manage your subscription week to week.  Our ingredients got delivered in a box, packed with ice packs to keep everything nice and cold.  The ingredients looked fresh and crisp (you never know how fruits and veggies will fair in transit).  Some of the ingredients come pre-chopped, while others need to be prepared before you make the smoothie.  A few of the ingredients were not labeled (Green Blender should fix this) but through process of elimination, I was able to figure out what was what based on the recipes.  They also send you big neon smoothie straws which I thought was super fun.

Green blender sends you the recipe sheet for five different smoothies, along with blender tips, how to make the perfect smoothie, and the benefits of their super foods.  *All great info!*  I love that green blender changes their smoothies every single week.  The weeks are themed (this week was smoothie recipes that are good for your heart), so you never get bored or stuck in a routine of having the same smoothie.  It's like a new surprise each week!  They list all the recipes on their website as well if you ever need to refer back or want to try something from the past that you missed out on.

Each recipe makes enough for two smoothies, so you can share with a loved one, or save a cup for lunch.  I went down the list and made a different smoothie each day:  Red Rose Lemonade, Fine-Apple, The Kiwi to My Heart, Spiced Orange Cider, and Chocolate Covered Coconut.

Green Blender calls for you to add water and ice to each smoothie, and if another liquid is in the recipe like coconut water, they provide that for you.

I had to get up a few minutes early each morning to make these smoothies due to the prep involved, but I didn't mind.  The chopping and washing involved was minimal.  In about 10 minutes I had two smoothies ready to go for my husband and I.

Taste wise the smoothies were pretty good.   Some were definitely better than others- some were a little bit bland.  But the fact that I knew I was providing my body with great nutrition made me love the whole process.  The chocolate covered coconut one was the favorite of the bunch.  I think that using coconut water instead of regular water really amps up the flavor of a smoothie in general.

All in all if you are looking for a smoothie company that is fairly priced, and you don't mind doing a little bit of prep work, try out green blender!  With the promise that I would do the prep work, my husband and I are incorporating these deliveries into our schedule mixed in with Daily Harvest.  With Green Blander, each week is a new experience in this health journey we are on.

<3 P.S.

You can freeze some of the fruits and veggies to give your smoothies that cold, frosty texture. Just make sure to prewash before freezing!   I used the Ninja to make the smoothies which left them a little pulpy. However switching to the Nutra-bullet, they came out much smoother.
