Nothing Basic About Basic Invite

1 year…

It sounds like such a long time. But as you get older that time flies by so much faster. As a child, our days are so carefree. Our summers were a long break. Our days seemed to go on forever. But now, things seem to progress in the blink of an eye.

For me, this past year has been a year of so many “firsts” I was pregnant, I went through labor, I had a baby. Ryker hit so many milestones and has changed in leaps and bounds. It seems like yesterday he was swaddled up making cooing sounds, and now he is taking steps and acting like he is ready to conquer the world. I can barely remember what it feels like to be pregnant. It feels like, in a way, I never even was. But then I see this bundle of joy crawling towards me and I realize I most definitely had a big belly not too long ago.

1 year is such a huge milestone for our children. Right now we are in the middle of planning Ryker’s first birthday party. It is both exciting and a little bit heart wrenching at the same time. Is my baby really going to be a toddler soon?

The first thing we had to do was pick a theme, because if you know my Mother, party planning is the name of her game. After scrolling through Pinterest, I saw a picture of Winnie the Pooh that I fell in love with. I sent it to her and we knew that this was our theme for Ryker’s party.

Step One: Design the invitations. There are so many invitation companies out there, and the choices can be overwhelming. But I went with Basic Invite because I had heard that they had some really unique first birthday invitations. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I did!

I began to scroll through the options for boys birthday invitations. While there were so many beautiful invites, including these cool birthday invitations, I knew that what I wanted was something a little more specific to my theme. Since my Mom is an artist and really good with graphic design, I had her create and photoshop the invitation exactly how I wanted it. Basic Invite has a template that allows you to upload your own design, so that you can have your own creation printed and made into your product.

Envelopes were included, and I also had the option to have our return address printed on the back of them: “Mama and Papa Bear” return address to keep with the theme! *BONUS the envelopes have a sticker to close them so you don’t have to worry about licking tons of invitations. Cue Seinfeld episode where the woman dies from licking too many wedding invites!

This company was so easy to work with. They immediately contacted me with the proof and I had the option to have samples sent out to make sure that I liked them. They had a design team look over the invitation as well to make sure that everything looked perfect.

Within a few days, my invitations were at my door. The colors were bright, the envelopes were adorable, and they were exactly what I ordered.

I feel so much better that we have one thing checked off the party planning check list. I always find planning events to be overwhelming, so I’m glad the invitations were smooth sailing for me!

I’ll keep you posted as to how the rest of the planning comes along. Food, favors, baked goods, games, goody bags….oh boy I better get back to work!

P.S.

Does anyone have any good suggestions for a Winnie the Pooh themed 1st birthday party?
