Easy Home Decor For Busy Mamas

This is a guest post by Alex Berger from the Berger Bungalow

If you are a Mom, or a Mom-to-be, then you know how busy life gets.  It can be hard to find time to go to the bathroom alone, let alone time to decorate your home. Your time is spent wiping noses, reading stories, buckling car seats, and running errand after errand. How is it possible to find time to browse Target or Home Goods getting the decor, putting it up, packing it up for the next season, getting out last years finds, starting the whole cycle again, all while doing the essential things that come with motherhood?

Fear not! I do believe that it is possible to have it all - you just have to get smart about the way you do things. If you want a beautiful home filled with great, seasonal decor (who doesn’t?!), listen up!   Today I’m talking about my best tips on easy home decor for busy mamas! Let’s go ahead and dive right in to the details:

Plants

Okay, fake plants and real plants both have their perks. With fake plants, you do not have to worry about watering them, or putting any additional time and effort into taking care of them. That’s why I listed fake plants as my first tip. Fake plants add just the right amount of pizazz to a room, but do not require any care.

Alternatively, you could go with real plants, which would benefit your family in terms of air quality. NBC News says, “Houseplants are good for your health — and not just for their visual beauty. Why? They essentially do the opposite of what we do when we breathe: release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide. This not only freshens up the air, but also eliminates harmful toxins. Extensive research by NASA has revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87 percent of air toxins in 24 hours. Studies have also proven that indoor plants improve concentration and productivity (by up to 15 percent!), reduce stress levels and boost your mood — making them perfect for not just your home but your work space, too.”

Welcome Mats

Welcome mats in and out of your home are great and very useful.  Bloggers are always featuring their cute finds, and you can be as basic or as creative with these as you want.   If you have kids (or animals) who have dirty paws, or shoes, I highly recommend getting some. Not only will they help protect your flooring, but they can also add pops of color throughout your home’s interior and exterior. All rugs, in general, are great options for your home if you have kids or pets because they are so easy to clean and help add a splash of color!

Make Your Own Decor

I know what you are thinking - I just wrote that it’s hard to find time to decorate your home and now I am asking you to sit down and make your own decor?!  Hear me out. Making your own decor will not only save money, but it will also give you (and your children) a fun project to work on! If your children are able to color I can guarantee that they will love to work on a home project with you, even if you are doing most of the work yourself. A few fun DIY projects that your kids could help you with are: painting furniture, making candles, getting creative with mason jars, painting pottery, drawing pictures (you could frame them!), or even traveling and finding souvenirs with your children that will double as home decor. There are so many ways that you can make decorating fun - with your kid(s)!  Just open up Pinterest and search for DIY kid friendly projects.

Leather Furniture

Last but not least, I highly recommend leather furniture for your home. If you are a Mom, or a Mom-to-be, get ready for spills and thrills with the little ones.  It’s inevitable that at some point or another your couches will get spilled on. Leather furniture makes clean-up a breeze. In my opinion, leather is much easier to take care of than upholstered furniture and most furniture stores offer so many leather options. For example, Sweet Home Stores which is located in Clifton, New Jersey has plenty of stylish and affordable options when it comes to leather (and non-leather) furniture and home decor, as well. Their wide selection of merchandise is sourced from trustworthy vendors and also includes some of their own original designs. Bonus, they often run deals as well as leasing and financing options. If you are looking for leather furniture to make your life easier as a busy mom, I would consider checking out their reasonable prices and stylish furniture offerings.  Make your life easier with leather. Turst me Mamas, you won’t regret it.

There you go!   A few easy home decor options for Moms!  I hope that these fun tips help to make your holiday seasons a little bit more successful.   Do you have any other ideas? I would love to hear them! Comment below with any tips you would like to add on!
